Dress up, Dancing, and Updates
We have come through a rough but eventful couple of weeks. Ellis has had a birthday party every single Saturday this month. And she has two next month as well. As you can see, Ellis and Anders get along swimmingly. Anders is starting to get more interesting to Ellis, and he continues to think everything Ellis does is genius.
Ellis thought Anders should wear Mike's tie. Anders didn't love the idea but Ellis wanted him to, so he wore it and he did so happily. Anders has really grown in the last two weeks. He weighs a ton, and he has started pulling on to all fours and rocking back and forth. That only lasts for a few seconds before he starts scooting backward.
Anders has also started trying to pull himself up. No, that is not accurate. He has started to notice there are things on the coffee table that he could grab or throw, so he is struggling to get to them. Pulling up is a side-effect. If you set his hands on top of the coffee table and stand him up, he can hold himself there for a while -- that is until he gets distracted grabbing and throwing all of the things he can grab and throw. He also loves the Johnny Jump-up, especially if Ellis is around to play with him.
A week ago, Tante came over to practice a song or two that she planned to use in an audition and the kids couldn't get enough of it (video on the right side of the page). After the first song, Anders started clapping -- all by himself and before anyone else did. She sang about 8 songs and they were just as excited about the 8th as the 1st.
I would have posted these sooner, but we went through a rash of illness. First I got a throat infection that wiped me out and made my throat too sore to swallow. This stuck around for 10 days until...
...stomach flu. First it struck Anders on Friday. I came home from work, picked him up, tried to nurse him, and he threw up. By morning, he was fine. Then came Sunday. Mike woke up feeling horrible but didn't succumb until around noon. I felt fine, and was actually excited that my throat had stopped hurting, until 3:30. Ellis started at about 7:30. Ellis had mostly recovered by noon the next day. In fact tonight, she ate about 3 dinners. But Mike and I are still rebuilding. Our bodies are depleted and sore. Ugh, evil, evil bug.
Ellis was outstanding on our joint sick day. Even though she had energy and was getting bored, she played quietly with toys or the iPad by herself most of the day, letting me and Mike sleep. She was also as sweet as can be. She kept telling me that it was going to be okay and I just needed to rest.
