Feeling Like a Parent

When do you fully get that you are a parent? It is odd. Ellis has been in our life for over four months, but the term "parent" or the phrase "my daughter" still sounds strange to us.

We definitely feel it when Ellis wants only us because she is feeling bad or gets excited when she sees us. But we are not all the way there yet. Maybe when she calls us Mama and Dada?

She is such a delight -- fascinated by everything and so very sweet. We went to dinner at a new pizzeria (Pete's, it was quite good) with our good friends Josh and Sue and their 2 year old son, Jack. Ellis allowed everyone to hold her (Jack did not get a turn) and just hung out playing in our laps through dinner. Then we brought her home and played in the gimini, where she rolled on to her side and smiled and giggled. Just adorable.
