Mom Bragging
I know that every parent loves their child and thinks theirs is the most special child on Earth, but this time it is really true. At the very least she is the sweetest. Read on, remember she is not even 6 months old and tell me I am wrong. She has such a surprisingly full-fledged personality already. Ellis is very curious about how things work and will study a buckle for 15 minutes. She loves activity and being around other babies and toddlers.
On the Metro, she will stare at people until they look at her, and then she beams smiles at them. Yesterday, a woman who was treated to the Ellis stare and smile expressed surprise that Ellis is only 5-1/2 months because she is so interactive. I said it was because she is a social butterfly, but this brilliant and exceptionally perceptive lady said it was probably because she was extremely intelligent.
Ellis loves giving kisses and hugging us around the neck. She grabs my cheeks or hair with her little hands, drags my face to hers, smashes her lips against my cheek and slobbers all over it. I get a kiss every day when I drop her off at daycare, every night before she goes to sleep and many times in between.
Ellis is also teething, which is making her nose run as if it is competing for an Olympic medal in mucous production. As a result, she is not sleeping well and has a cough. Every now and then I will go to suction out her nose and this precious child who hates this process puts her hand on my hand, closes her eyes and lets me do the suctioning.
When she eats (and sometimes when she is in the mood to just nuzzle), she bounces her left leg like she is sitting on the side of a pool splashing the water around. She also runs her hand through my hair over and over again (we have a picture of this and will put it up shortly). She also likes to pet the cats and will, for the most part, do so open-handed and gently.
I could go on and on, but the point is: she's a keeper.
