Spirit Airlines -- not cheap enough

Beth and Ellis had a terrible experience with Spirit Airlines. We splurged and bought Ellis her own seat, only to discover that the seats in coach are too close together to accommodate a standard car seat. The flight attendant had the nerve to act like we were the ones who screwed up.

Spirit also lost Beth's bag...on a direct flight...after charging $25 for the bag. And they arranged no help for Beth, who was traveling alone with a baby. Through it all, Ellis was a champ.


In all fairness, the airline upgraded Beth to 1st class on the trip back and found her purse (which she left behind at baggage claim). This was the result of 2 particularly impressive employees. But I still wouldn't ride Spirit again, even for free.
