Ellis Enjoys the Fall

Last week Ellis and Dad enjoyed the Fiesta del Otoño at the Upshur street park. While both Ellis and her Dad agree that Washington's weather is generally pretty crappy, Fall is a big exception.

The temperatures cool and the humidity goes away, and we get top notch foliage a month after those suckers in Vermont and New Hampshire have bunkered down for winter. The produce from Virginia's Shenandoah Valley really hits it's stride in the Fall too -- the Mount P farmer's market is full of huge apples, squashes, pears and the like and it marks the appearance of good stuff like preserves, apple butter, and other attendant calorie boosters.

The Fiesta was as super festive as advertised -- not one but TWO Moon Bounces, a little league game between the Capital City Red Sox and the Capital City Astros, and some very flashy mariachis who may or may not have been the same dudes Ellis saw driving around in a tricked-out Impala (sombreros included) on Halloween night.

Ellis -- who at the time had a raging ear infection unknown to her clueless, inept parents -- loved it all so much she fell asleep.
