EJO meets BHO
Tuesday, January 20, 2009 was a historic day. Three million people jammed the National Mall to watch Ellis meet President Obama (the AP is on crack, by the way). Ellis said, "to paraphrase the Special One, 'I'm Fantastic!'"
Mmm. Just say it a couple of times. President. Barack. H. Obama.
Solid.
It was a chilly day, but Ellis' well-known impervious
The President delivered with a serious speech, low on the kumbaya factor. Standing at the bottom of Capitol Hill, you could hear the applause lines ripple away through the crowd all the way to the Washington Monument and beyond.
Can you imagine it? That's three million Americans you could sell T-shirts to. Heck, if the housing market hadn't cratered that would be three million chances to re-fi.
In actuality, the truly historic moment came on Saturday with the concert for the Obamas and Bidens at the Lincoln Memorial. We're not sure if we would ever see Pete Seeger sing a Woody Guthrie song in front of the Chief Executive. If that would have happened to Dick Cheney he would have disappeared in a puff of smoke like the Wicked Witch of the West.
Anyway. Ellis snapped a photo during the speech -- this says it all.
