Taking Steps
Recently, Mike and I have been sitting on the floor and encouraging Ellis to try to walk between us. Sometimes, she would stumble a step or two without support, but usually she would hold on to Beth's hand until she could reach Mike's. Then tonight, she took steps on her own and, after 20 minutes practice, got up to 5 steps without any help. It was very exciting.
We tried to get video, but it didn't work. The light is not good enough in our living room at night, and Ellis wouldn't walk unless one of us set her up and the other was reaching for her -- tough to video at the same time. Beth did get this very dark video of Ellis getting set up by Mike and then standing still while staring at Stephen Colbert. But then Beth had to put down the camera to catch Ellis when she started walking.
We'll keep trying to catch this momentous event for all of our far-flung friends and relatives. Stay tuned.
