Smell the Glove
As it has cooled off outside, a lot of cold weather paraphernalia has come out from hiding. Ellis took a particular liking to Mommy's gloves and insisted on wearing one at dinner -- and having Mommy wear the other one. That is a good segue into an unfortunate development. We have fallen into many of the typical parenting patterns that we have spent much of our lives mocking.
I (Beth) asked my sister if she would like "Mommy" to get her beer. That is wrong on so many levels. Both Mike and I have called each other "Ellis" before getting to the right name and have called Ellis "Mike" or "Beth" before finding "Ellis.

We have also started getting up before 6am to do chores or to prepare breakfast before Ellis gets up. I used to consider my mother to be at best overly vigilant and at worst completely insane for doing that.
I'd prefer not to think about which one it makes me.
