Rain, rain, don't I look fabulous?
We had a rainy weekend, which was not great for outdoor play, but it was nice for showing off Ellis' adorable rain gear. I found this fabulous frog rain coat and galoshes for $15 on sale. Apparently, retailers think rain coats are only appropriate for sale in their spring line AND their spring line goes on sale (because it is sooo yesterday) by late February. Of course, it was still snowing in DC at that time. So to recap: retailers could have gotten $30 out of me by selling clothing while it was in season, but got half that because they jump the gun so much. Also, notice the Mardi Gras kids' umbrella from Kackie.

We spent the day at the Natural History Museum. See, Ellis loves the PBS show Dinosaur Train, which was developed because kids love dinosaurs and they love trains. Love it! While we were on the Metro, Ellis was repeating over and over, "We are going to see the dinosaurs -- the allosaurus, tyrannosaurus and troodon." People on the train were quite impressed. Right now, she is particularly excited the stygimoloch, which has lots of horns.
She also likes to talk about "the nocturtle," which she thinks is a specific type of animal that is out at night. We are working on the concept that all animals that hunt for food at night are "nocturnal." And when I say "we," I mean me, Beth. Mike has decided that "nocturtle" is cute and has started using the term himself.
While at the museum, we also went to the butterfly exhibit and the butterflies were out in numbers, flying all over the place and sometimes landing on us. I thought it was amazing but Ellis wasn't so sure.
