Things Have Changed

Mike returns on Sunday after 5 weeks away and so much has changed. Ellis asks for things in full sentences: "What is that?" "May I have some milk, please?" She doesn't listen to direction very well anymore. Orders to stop, wait or don't are often completely ignored.

When she can tell that I am getting angry, she looks for a way to make me laugh. Once she grabbed a hat and put it on backwards, saying, "Look, Mom, a silly hat!" BTW, she tends to call me "Mom" now. Way, way, way too soon. Another time, she walked up to me with a huge smile and said, "I'm being silly." Then she put her forehead to mine and rubbed her nose against mine, saying, "Nosey nosey." I still took a toy away, as I threatened to do if she didn't listen to me. But it was hard as anything because she was so darn cute.

She has trouble going to sleep and then doesn't sleep well. She has been having nightmares at night and during naptime. Her teachers at daycare say she calls out at least once every day during her nap. Many of the dreams seem to be about being left behind or something bad happening to her dad. Some bad habits have been developed and will soon have to be broken.

She is as loving and affectionate as ever. I am sure Mike will see a million things that have come on slowly. I will have him report on those changes upon his return, which can't come soon enough. We miss him so much.
