Happy THIRD Birthday!
Ellis had a wonderful birthday. She turned 3 and lived it up. She woke up and opened presents in bed before getting a birthday tiara and some dinosaur tattoos for a little birthday flare.
Ellis, who is usually pretty shy, LOVED all of the attention she got for her birthday. You can see in the first picture that she is basking in all the birthday love at daycare. Ellis shared cupcakes with all her classmates and some dinosaur stamps. This is a tradition I like at her daycare: the birthday kid does not get presents for his/her birthday but, instead, goes through a little ceremony of giving little presents to everyone else.

Mike was supposed to get home from his work trip on Thursday but his flight was canceled (pouts all around). Luckily, He arrived in time to pick Ellis up from school on her actual birthday, and we took her out for a special birthday dinner. We went to a great little restaurant in Adams Morgan called Mixtec, where the nice manager gave her a slice of cake of her choosing. Interestingly, she chose cheesecake, which I feared she would regret. She did not. She loved it.

Here are the dinosaur tattoos. The first one went on her hand but evaporated after a couple hand-washings, so we moved them up onto her arms.

On the morning after her birthday, we gave Ellis her big present from Mom and Dad -- a teepee.

And one adorable addition: "Happy Birthday" sung by cousin Allee...
