Pensacola -- at the Beach
The kids all gave the beach a try. The sand was a big hit but the water at times was a little threatening. So they held on tight to the grown-ups any time they ventured in. We had some days with rough seas, including a rain storm and a day where the red flags came out, kicking everyone out of the water. But overall, the weather was beautiful (much cooler than DC) and the water was welcoming.
Here is Anders getting some sun (under a tarp). We dug a hole in the sand, covered it with a towel and, voila, instant baby beach chair. As you can see, he liked it.

Ellis dug as much sand as she could in her time at the beach. I love these rash guards. They cover the kid so much better than a regular bathing suit, which really helps avoid sunburn. It also looks way cool.

Ellis considering taking on the waves...

And in they go. She liked it but wanted to be held tightly. She let us put her in a floaty a few times too. But after about 20 minutes, she generally was ready to get out.

Kathy has always been an expert boogy boarder. Here she is riding a wave to the beach. James got pretty good on this trip too. But you can't beat Kathy's style with that hat.

Next year, I expect to see Ian on one of those boogy boards. But this year, he just laid out and picked up chicks.
