Last Weekend

It was a busy weekend.  On Friday, Ellis took me to the board outside of the art room to show me this piece of artwork.  She is very proud of it.  I ran into her art teacher later in the week and was told that Ellis always wants to take her artwork home and is very disappointed when she can't.  So we took this picture to show Ellis that we can share her pictures, even if we can't bring them home.
Anders went to a birthday party for a little girl in his daycare class, Journee. who turned one.  This picture is Anders with Kate and Knox.  Knox is also in Anders' class, and Kate is the Executive Director of the daycare.  The four of us had fun, though it was a bit odd.  A bunch of people were there but very difficult to engage in conversation.  And they had lots of games, but they were all for older kids (like pin the tail on the donkey and a pinata).
The next day, we went to see some musicians from the National Symphony Orchestra play at a church in our neighborhood -- a free concert that is part of the NSO in Your Neighborhood program.  It was really wonderful and then on the walk home we found this...
These are animals from a farm in Leesburg, VA, where there is a huge petting zoo.  And they brought several of them to the corner of Park and 14th for the kids in Columbia Heights to enjoy.  Ellis would have stayed there all day, if we would have let her.
