At the Zoo, At the Zoo, At the Audubon Zoo
The world's greatest zoo is in New Orleans. You can't walk 20 steps without seeing an animal, whether it is an animal in an exhibit or cage or a peacock roaming around. And there are tons of places for kids to play. Here is Ellis on Monkey Hill, which is also the highest spot in the city. When I was a kid, it was a mound of dirt: now there are tons of activities and fun to be had.
Here we are in the swamp exhibit. I have some videos of Ellis and Anders feeding the otters, which will be posted momentarily. I wish more zoos did what Audubon does: profile all the unique critters that you find in the area and teach about their habitat.
There is also a petting zoo with goats and sheep and pigs (the pig is gigantic). Best zoo in the world.

The albino aligator is an incredibly rare creature. This is one of only a dozen found in the world, and only in the swamps of Louisiana. There was also a display about the Loup Garou (French version of a werewolf), which stuck with Ellis for a good week afterwards in spite of the fact that the display had a Santa hat on it. I will have to post the picture she drew of it several days after.
The zoo also has a carousel (of course), and Anders went wild for it. We road it twice, and he bawled when we were done. There is also a petting zoo with goats and sheep and pigs (the pig is gigantic). Best zoo in the world.
