My Kids
Last week, we had a parent-teacher conference with Ellis' teacher, Ms. Weekes. We got a glowing report. She is doing well in class, has been much better about not crying every time she gets frustrated, and is getting along well with other kids in her class. While we were talking, Ellis went to the board and wrote "We are going to rite to day." (We are going to write today.) And she drew a picture of her and another student with Ms. Weekes.
Here is Ellis and Maeve at Disney on Ice. Ellis is wearing a pretty spring dress that her Gram gave her that game with a matching scarf.
Anders' nanny took him to a baby samba class at Bloombars and sent me the following 2 pictures. He clearly loved it. He is getting to be so much fun. It is amazing how much better things get when you can communicate.
He has traded in calling me "Mama" for "Mommy" and "Da" is now "Daddy." And when he wants something he walks up to me, pats me (rather hard), and says "Mommy, cracker" or "Mommy, bed." That's right, he asks for bed. This kid takes bedtime seriously.

These kids are getting more and more sweet. They actually play together, dancing or building things. And Anders thinks Ellis is the coolest thing around. She is one of the first things he asks for in the morning and he needs to hug and kiss her goodnight before we can start the bedtime routine. Ellis loves taking care of him and gets excited when he is able to do something new.

He also has picked up a bunch of new words, some English and some Spanish -- outside, please, cheese, thank you, want, go, teeth, paste, play and toy as well as mira, aqui, alli, gracias, nada and donde. This is hardly an exhaustive list. But I am too exhausted to remember more. There have been a lot of sick people in this house, and my sleep has been sacrificed to their recovery. Anders is also picking up more and more signs -- eat, drink, water, milk, cracker, bus, car, train, more.

They take good care of each other. When Ellis was upset and crying last week, Anders hugged her, grabbed her hand, pulled her toward the toys and said "Ellis, play?" And while Ellis used to get upset when we left her with a babysitter, now she is too focused on taking care of Anders to worry about our leaving.
