Vacation by the Bay, Part 1
We arrived at our house by the Chesapeake Bay and explored everything, heading to our little beach and building a fort with driftwood. And later we enjoyed some watermelon on the front porch. Even though it was in the 90s, the breeze off of the Bay was nice and cool and kept us quite comfortable.
We headed to Solomons Island to catch the regatta, which turned out not to be actually watchable. So we walked around the island (which is not really an island) and ended up at the Marine Museum. The museum was awesome. If we had bad weather, we could have spent two days there. There was a historic lighthouse, boats, horseshoe crabs and other local wildlife, and fossils to explore.
Ellis is saying, "Argh!"
The boy holding the horseshoe crab is 12 and knows a shocking amount about the animals he was showing us. For example, he taught us that the horseshoe crab is older than the dinosaurs.
