Gram's Visit

This fall has brought a parade of grandparents. Last but certainly not least was Gram, who was an immediate hit.  It was quite striking to see her with Ellis because the resemblance is so strong.  Mike is going to have to add some pictures to this post, since I know he took many more.  But here is a start...

Gram was visiting for Thanksgiving and was part of creating the largest Thanksgiving dinner ever. Two turkeys (one brined, one smoked), a salmon loaf, Brussels sprout and apple salad, squash, mashed potato, sweet potato latkes, and strawberry pretzel salad (apparently, a Midwestern staple that was surprisingly yummy).  Dessert was apple pie and the chocolate dish that Shirley created and Mike named (as a young boy) "Wild Turkey Surprise" after a Bugs Bunny trick on Elmer Fudd.
We invited a bunch of people that had no family to spend the holiday with and much fun was had. Ellis had us all declare what we were thankful for and she said, "I am thankful that all my friends came to share this dinner with me." Also, Ellis informed me that six days with Gram was not enough.
