Kindergarten Graduation
Another school year has come to a close. And Ellis had an amazing one in Ms. Black and Ms. Montoya's class. Their graduation was quite the show, including a video showing their day-to-day learning and a super cool song and dance. Ms. Black wins the medal for all-time coolest class performances between this show and their MLK Day skit.
And these teachers are outstanding -- 80 percent of her class is graduating above grade level in reading and 90 percent above grade level in math. Below you see Ellis in the front row, sitting next to Manfreddy, who is a very cute boy and super cool and I'm pretty sure Ellis has a crush on him. This is Ellis shaking Ms. Montoya's hand with Ms. Black smiling in the background. Ellis also completely surprised us. She and Johnny are the best readers in class, so she normally opens performances by reading a welcome in English and Johnny in Spanish.
But Ms. Montoya thought Ellis could handle the Spanish. They practiced for days, and Ellis pretended to read to herself at night but was really practicing her speech. And she rocked it.
This is Ellis with Kamora. They are excited to get to 1st grade. Ellis says her goal for 1st grade is to become a good enough reader to read Harry Potter to herself.
